Why...

Wed Jul 9, 2008, 5:24 PM
The best models I've ever worked with were real people. They brought personality, individuality and a genuine appreciation for the role they play. These women, whether professional models, or total strangers were able to fall into the roles we agreed upon, played in front of the camera, and without being self-conscious or posing, brought about the most amazing forms and ideas.

The most successful models are not the ones that are the most "attractive." Direct stares; pouty lips; breasts heaved out in exaggerated postures; overdone cosmetics; big hair; predefined poses that we're taught are "sexy". These all share a common thread: You look at the image, and your response is flat, emotionless, and devoid of any meaningful thought. When you show off these images, you might hear "Kewl.. any more?"

The most astonishing models are then ones that bring positive energy to a session. They pick up on the idea of the day, and run with it. They help create the storyline, and make it as realistic as possible. Their personality oozes out in every single image, so you know that this person was REAL. Just by looking one sees the images and wonders, "Did this really happen?" Sharp intakes of breath, followed by "Oh, my..." and "Wow!"

The images I want to create are the ones when looked at, people stop and stare. Hearts skip a beat, minds focus down to a single moment. A fundamental shift in perception takes place as they forget to breathe. Then, when they finally take that focused intake of breath, they can't speak, being too absorbed in the moment. People see these images and stare, analyzing with intensity, passionately trying to grasp understanding. They walk away wondering, the images stuck in their mind for hours.

A single image; one that causes a single individual somewhere to stop dead in their tracks; one that causes a paradigm shift in personal perspective about the subject matter; one that so fundamentally affects an individual that their life moves in a different way, or takes a new path...

These are the images I wish to make.

If you are willing to try, I want to work with you.
